International Cat Day takes place on August 8 of every year. Which is today! The holiday was created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare.
It started as a day to raise awareness for cats and learn about different ways to help and protect them.
International Cat Care are the custodians of International Cat Day, which works to “to improve cats’ welfare.

Why do we celebrate National Cat Day?
Cats are the most popular pet in the world and could be found in many households across the globe. I myself have 2 lovely cats. One who is 12 and the other who is about 3 years old.
Apparently, having a cat can help improve psychological health by aiding emotional support to people with depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Although sometimes they help to cause anxiety! Especially when they are howling in the early hours or come home soaking wet leaving mudding pawprints!

For the past three days I have been isolating as I am having an operation…
Beautiful – I love cats! We don’t have one ourselves, as it seems unfair to do so when we travel so much (in normal times), but we befriend any that come our way 🙂
