In the last week of October, I visited Nunnington Hall. As always it was beautifully decorated with all things Autumn. I even came home with a few windfall apples to make into a lovely crumble for tea.
I’ve been rather busy at work lately, hence the silence and I’ve also been busy out and about too. This weekend I went via train to the picturesque town of Knaresbrough.
The first trio of images are taken from the castle looking over the River Nidd. The middle trio, well can you guess which is the real door (the others are actually painted). It is painted in the style of trompe l’oeil, (French: “deceive the eye”) in painting, the representation of an object with such verisimilitude as to deceive the viewer concerning the material reality of the object.
The bottom trio are the views just as you get off the station and walk towards the river Nidd.

Today definitely felt Autumnal. The sun was low and bright, there was a chill in the air and leaves from the Horse Chestnut trees looked like a carpet of golden brown. Squirrels running round the trees and over the cycle track, whilst rabbits watched on from a distance. This was taken this morning and I longed to stay longer but I was on duty at work which meant I could only stop for a few minutes.

Wow! How did we get get to September (nearly) so quickly? This year has flown by so fast. Maybe because it has been such a lovely Summer with lots of lovely sunshine and (too) hot weather. This year I have not travelled very much with my camera, hopefully will get out and about in the Autumn months (my favourite season).
Another photograph to water colour style image for this lovely Friday evening. Hope you like this one. If any of you are interested in creating your own drop me a message on here and I’ll add a link to the tutorial that I use on YouTube.
Well, a bit of a shock to wake up to frost on Friday. A wake up call to the fact we are starting to go into colder months.
A touch of ice on fungiJ & Z cat enjoying the fire on a cold and noisy 5th November
All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.
“October extinguished itself in a rush of howling winds and driving rain and November arrived, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bit at exposed hands and faces.”
