December – Second week of Advent

Name, png

A lovely but very cold second week of Advent. I visited Hovingham in the Howardian Hills on the way to the National Trust Property of Nunnington Hall.

Hovingham is situated within the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Ryedale District of North Yorkshire, approximately 19 miles north of the city of York and midway between the market towns of Helmsley and Malton.

I decided to stop to take a few pictures as I’d never had a walk round before. A beautiful village but a bitterly cold day.

A lovely first week of Advent. I visited the National Trust Property of the Treasurer’s House in the middle of York. An oasis of peace and calm amid a very busy Christmas Market Day.

This picturesque townhouse nestling in the centre of York has many tales to tell, including celebrity parties, workmen who wore slippers to keep the noise down, and a promise by its former owner to return to haunt the building if anything was changed after his death.

The last few days of the Year

Name, png

The last few days of 2021
I wish that the twinkling stars and Christmas tree lights could stay up until the end of March when the clocks jump forward into Spring. Who else agrees?

Over Christmas & Boxing Day I went on a few walks to get some fresh air and also to enjoy the twinkling lights and decorations around the area.

A few of the lovely lights seen on our walk over Christmas.

Boxing Day

S e a s o n s’ g r e e t i n g s

Well I hoped you all survived Christmas?
Let me know how you spent it and what was your best & worst present?

This image popped up on my timeline the other day so I thought I would share it on here. I created this with several of my photographs layered over each other. They can be very time consuming to make so I have not created many in 2021 but hopefully will have more time to create a few more in 2022.

Did you know that Boxing Day got its name when Queen Victoria was on the throne in the 1800s and has nothing to do with the sport of boxing.

The name comes from a time when the rich used to box up gifts to give to the poor.

Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants, and the day when they received a special Christmas box from their masters.

The servants would also go home on Boxing Day to give Christmas boxes to their families.

Nowadays shops are all open on Boxing Day and it’s like Christmas has been forgotten already!

Christmas Eve

Have a peaceful Christmas Eve

How will you be celebrating Christmas Eve? I shall be sat in front of the fire with a glass of wine or I may even go and have a glass in the village pub! Whatever you do have a lovely evening and stop worrying about cooking the turkey!

Racing towards Christmas!

Here we are. Another weekend. Another week nearer to Christmas.

I keep coming home from work and adding a few more decorations to the house. At the moment Z cat does not seem very interested in the tree and I have kept tinsel to a minimum this year!

I don’t think that the weather can make it’s mind up this week. It’s either wet & mild or cold and frosty. I don’t know about you but i would love a white Christmas (as long as I don’t have leave the house!)

A New Week

Good morning

Another week, where are they going?!

Not much photography done this week again, I think we need a touch more of the white stuff so I can go out and take some wintery shots.

Are you all ready for the festive season? I actually put my tree up this weekend so a few images will come later on.
