The last weekend in August

Wow! How did we get get to September (nearly) so quickly? This year has flown by so fast. Maybe because it has been such a lovely Summer with lots of lovely sunshine and (too) hot weather.
This year I have not travelled very much with my camera, hopefully will get out and about in the Autumn months (my favourite season).

Another photograph to water colour style image for this lovely Friday evening. Hope you like this one.

I’m back! Sorry for the silence for the past few weeks which have been so busy and hot, that I’ve neglected a journal post! But, I’m here with some time to write one, I’m also in the process of maybe changing domain name as I’ve gone back to wordpress.com for now.

As it has been too hot and bright for me to focus on photography I’ve been working on creating some effects using Photoshop. It isn’t just a button that you press to create these, you have to have many layers and change the filters etc. Each one can create up to 30-60 minutes to create.

If any of you are interested in creating your own drop me a message on here and I’ll add a link to the tutorial that I use on YouTube.

What a hot and sunny week this has been; of course now it is the weekend it’s gone cooler again! But, that didn’t stop me from visiting some lovely gardens today. My focus this time was on the beautiful peonies that have sprung up this week. My own have already been and gone so it was nice to see these still flowering and looking stunning.

A Touch of Green

It has been a brilliant start to a new week; time is flying pat so fast I can’t believe it’s the 10th May already.
I was very motivated over the weekend and ended up getting my macro (close-up) lens out. These gorgeous plants look even more magical with early morning dew on. I took far too many images, so still wading through them!

Cow Parsley

On my glorious bike rides through the back lanes, Cow Parsley, Anthriscus sylvestris, is starting to fill the hedgerows.

It was used in traditional medicines and is said to help treat various ailments, such as stomach and kidney problems, breathing difficulties and colds. It has always been used as mosquito repellent.

Common names nowadays are cow parsley, Queen Anne’s lace, mother die, fairy lace, lady’s lace, hedge parsley.

The name ‘Mother die’ or ‘Mummy die’, was used to frighten children into thinking that if they picked cow parsley, their mother would die. This was intended to deter children from potentially picking deadly hemlock.

“We were terrified of mother-die”
